Reynolds and Reynolds Acquires E-commerce Company TradeMotion


TradeMotion Helps Automotive Dealers and Manufacturers Sell Parts Online Efficiently and Profitably

DAYTON, Ohio – June 6, 2017 – Reynolds and Reynolds announced today the company has acquired TradeMotion, a leader in e-commerce solutions for dealers and manufacturers to sell automotive parts and accessories online to consumers more efficiently and profitably.

TradeMotion’s technology platform also includes Parts.com®, the largest online marketplace for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts and accessories. The Parts.com site offers a comprehensive selection of more than 20 million unique OEM items that cover all of today’s major automotive manufacturers.

“TradeMotion’s technology provides a competitive advantage for dealers selling parts through e-commerce and a proven way for dealers to add a new revenue stream to their dealerships,” said Sidney Haider, Reynolds and Reynolds vice president. Haider is also founder of Reynolds’ vehicle accessory selling solution for dealerships, AddOnAuto. “By adding TradeMotion to the Reynolds portfolio, we’re taking their expertise in e-commerce for parts and combining it with the depth of Reynolds experience in serving automotive retailers with technology solutions in the dealership. Together, we believe we can grow and develop TradeMotion in ways that will benefit TradeMotion’s customers and complement our overall strategy around the retailing solutions we provide to dealerships and OEMs.”

Haider also noted that TradeMotion currently integrates with eBay Motors and Amazon, multiplying the consumer reach for dealers and OEMs selling parts online.

“Reynolds is a leader in automotive dealership technology solutions, and we see this as a great fit,” said TradeMotion co-founder Shawn Lucas, who will join Reynolds with the acquisition. “TradeMotion and Reynolds share a similar vision in delivering the retailing tools and processes that enable dealers and OEMs to conduct more business, more effectively and profitably. That vision also includes making the process of purchasing parts far more efficient and satisfying for consumers than older, more traditional approaches to finding and buying parts.”

Lucas also noted that, in the past, dealers have faced a number of practical hurdles in trying to manage parts sales efficiently and effectively — and sell to a broader consumer audience.

“TradeMotion solves all of that,” he said.

Haider concluded: “The team at Reynolds continues to focus on delivering a complete retail management system platform to dealers. TradeMotion is one more example of extending the set of retailing tools we offer that can help deliver a new revenue stream for dealerships and a seamless shopping experience for consumers buying parts and accessories.”

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
